Introducing The BJORN Button Stools: Elevate Your Space with Style and Versatility
At KAOI, we're excited to unveil our latest creation in home decor: The BJORN Button Stools. These stools are more than just furniture; they're a statement piece designed to transform your living space into a hub of creativity and comfort.
Our journey with the Button Series began one day while we were exploring the vibrant fabric market in Bangkok, Thailand. As we wandered through the market, we stumbled upon a shop filled with an incredible variety of buttons. The shelves were lined with buttons made from wood, plastic, and fabric. It was a delightful mix of options, sparking endless possibilities for creative sewing projects.
This shop was a haven for anyone looking for the perfect button to complete their best outfit. The walls were adorned with buttons of all designs and sizes, many featuring intricate graphics and details. We were also amazed by the vast array of threads available, each one offering new opportunities for customization.
It was in this moment of inspiration that we wondered: what if we could tailor our furniture just like we tailor our clothes? And how fun would it be if you could do that at home in just one blink of an eye? Our goal is to bring that fun, tactile experience from the market to everyone's home. Excited by this idea, we rushed home and spent a few hours sketching what would become the first BJORN Button Stool. I shared this design with my assistant designer, and we immediately saw the potential.
The most enjoyable part of our work is when simple, fun designs come naturally from our experiences and often take not long to finish. Our first series is composed of four colorways: the Milk Cream Seat with Buttercup Yellow Legs named EMMA BJORN, the Salmon Orange Seat with Chalk Pink Legs named NANCY BJORN, and the Sea Green Seat with Powder Blue Legs named OSCAR BJORN. And there's one more secret piece of the puzzle still cooking in the oven, waiting to be unveiled..
For the materials, we use rubber wood for the entire chair. Rubberwood is environmentally friendly as it is harvested from a renewable source. The wood is light in color and straight-grained, making it easy to stain and perfect for solid coloring, which enhances its unique character.
Our first series of BJORN is just an introduction to our exciting journey. We have another secret design that hasn’t been launched yet, so stay tuned!
